A "LOVELY" BOUTIQUE
A "LOVELY" BOUTIQUE OPENS ON
MAIN STREET IN CATSKILL, NY

Lovely, a new boutique on Main Street, opened its doors Memorial Day weekend. The husband and wife team of Liz and Dan Kirkhus have worked to create a fresh and unique shopping experience in the heart of the Village.
The storefront offers a collection of wares from independent regional and local designers, artists and craftsman. Items ranging from men's and women's accessories to home goods and art adorn the interior of the duplex space. Works from Catskill's Lucy Blaire (oil cloth travel and makeup bags) and Meryl Lernihan (etchings and oil paintings) are featured in the shop. Christine Domanic, based in Hudson, offers her whimsical line of earrings and necklaces. Lovely is also proud to carry Beekman 1802 a brand of handmade goat milk soaps, lotions and fine edibles straight from the farm of the "The Fabulous Beekman Boys" in Sharon Springs, NY.
Customers who wish to know more about Lovely's products and the inspiration behind them can read the artist biographies which are prominently displayed near their wares. Currently in development, www.LovelyCatskill.com will offer even more artist information and an online shop. Lovely will be hosting designer showcases and art openings throughout the year.
Lovely is open daily from 10:00am - 6:00pm, Sunday 11:00am - 5:00pm and closed Tuesday.

Cultivate Catskill !!!
FUNDRAISER

A fundraiser to raise money for Cultivate Catskill.
We are a group of volunteers who are trying to make Catskill look nicer by planting trees, flowers, bushes, etc. where they are needed. We're starting with the slides on Main Street and the Main Street area in general.

We're selling engraved bricks to install at the base of the Howard St. slide, coming down from the library.

You can have the brick engraved with what you would like it to say, 3 lines per brick, 14 characters per line.
We're only selling 200 bricks at this time,
so quantities are limited.

Please click on a link for more details, to purchase a brick, or to go to the Cultivate Catskill website.

Project90
The Catskill Local Development Corporation (CLDC) has launched an initiative called "Project 90"

We have rented retail space on Main Street and have opened it up to artisans and craft vendors as an entry level arena for testing their products and services in a retail setting.

The project will last 90 days and its primary goal is to foster new businesses to take hold of retail space on Main Street.

We are currently interviewing vendors for the first wave of this project. Interested individuals can contact Tina at Mahalo or email us at project90@welcometocatskill.com.

Special thanks to Nina Sklansky for her creativity on the brand theme as well as the project and store names. I will be posting a few mock ups of the proposed marketing materials on http://www.welcometocatskill.com/project90 .

Please help us spread the word on this important project.

donation from the "Wacky Raft Race" to go towards playground equipment at Elliiot Park
Nancy Richards (left) hands over a check for $7,000.00 to the Fornightly Club of Catskill (represented by Carol Nesich). So far the Club has raised about $29,000.00 towards the replacement of the playground equipment at Elliot Park. The Fortnightly Club does several very important fundraisers per year (Wine tasting and the Festival of Trees to name two) and all of that money goes back into our Communities Parks and Recreation. Thank you !!!

The Garden Club statue “Winter Rose” is now at Leggio Park on Main Street. The placement of the statue completes the parks new look. There will be a formal opening Spring 2012.
